Heian Shodan is usually the second
Shotokan Kata that students learn.
It consists of a downward block (Gedan Barai), an upper block (Age Uke), a
middle level stepping punch (Oi Zuki) and the sword hand block (Shuto Uke).
There is also a wrist release and Hammerfist strike within the first few
moves.
