Position on Diagram Facing Screen
| Bring your fists together at your Right hip. Some Karateka form a precise 'cup and saucer' position and others just move their hands from that general direction - do which ever way your instructor tells you | |
| Step out to the side 9 o'clock position with your Left foot into back stance. Do not move out with your upper torso - it should just lower down as the knees bend into the stance. | |
| Bring your arms up quickly so the block is completed as the Left foot lands into its stance position | |
| The Left arm moves as if you are doing an Uchi Uke block with the back of the fist, the hand position finishing at your eye level with your knuckles facing backwards. You should be looking at the circle made with your thumb and first finger. | |
| The Left elbow should be bent at 90 degrees | |
| The Right arm performs an upper rising block, Age Uke, with the forearm and fist pointing in the same direction as the Left foot | |
| The Right forearm should finish horizontally with the knuckles facing backwards | |
| When finished, the technique should form a rectangle with both arms | |
| Breathe out completely and tense all your body muscles for a brief moment on the completion of the move | |
